Mouth drop and wide open !

Sikkim Trip 517 - Copy

After spending a day trying to absorb as much as possible the serenity and beauty of the heavenly Himalayan town of Darjeeling i was excited for next morning’s Tiger hills visit for a world famous sunrise spectacle. Not sure if I could sleep that night but I woke up at exactly 4 am without the buzzer and was at Tiger hills around 5.15 am. Sunrise was expected at 6.05 am and it was pitch dark but Tiger hills was full of life, packed with tourists and tea vendors.

Clock struck 6, cameras and handicams aimed and here comes the most awaited moment. The night starts to fad away to make way for the Sun, the Sun waits no more and rises over the hills and i am mesmerized while gazing at the  palate of numerous shades of orange.

My mouth dropped when the first rays fall on snow capped Kangchenjunga, turning it into a sight of enchanting beauty for which i am short of words.

With that dropped mouth and overflowing excitement, i turned to my, little more than two years old daughter and said, “honey, look at the Sun, it’s so beautiful !!!”

My little angel looked at me with a rather plain face and calmly said, “Mamma, don’t we see the Sun every morning at home ?!?”

and my mouth was wide open with laughter …

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Mouth Drop.”

In exactly 100 words creatively describe one moment when your mouth dropped open, chin hit the ground, and tears rolled down your face (figuratively or not). If you prefer to develop this into a longer post, that’s fine too!
